Digital Literacy

I think every person should know to use computers and internet nowadays, because internet is in everywhere. But is not sufficient knowing how to use the programs and to work online, it is necessary the ability to critically navigate and selecting what really is truth and what can be used for good purposes.
The digital literacy does not have the purpose to replace the traditional literacy but it has the purpose to join both to develop intellectuality people, because the traditional literacy teaches to young people the ability to read for knowledge, write correctly, and think critically about the world, so the digital literacy can facilitate that process, due the fact that digital researchers explore a variety of topics including how people find and create information. The digital literacy is necessary for people know how to communicate with others online because that way to communicate can expose themselves, young people need to know the consequences of the wrong way to use technologies like computer hardware, cell phones and others mobile devices and software or applications, including Internet applications.
I would recommend to young people to study digital media to learn recognizing and using that power to manipulate and to transform digital media in their favor.

  1. I agree with your point, Rodrigo, that part of being digitally literate is developing digital morals and "Netiquette."
